Thank you for making True Patriot 2 Happen!

Image
I would like to take some time here to thank everyone who supported True Patriot 2 , which as you may know was successfully funded! It's a fantastic feeling knowing that people do want original Canadian superheroes made. It's such an honour to be a part of such distinguished Canadian comic creators, all of whom are working hard to make True Patriot 2 even better than the first! I'll be teaming up with Adrian Alphona, who was such a joy to work with on our story titled,  Uh-Oh Ogopogo! from the the first True Patriot anthology. For True Patriot 2 , we will be bringing a brand new story with some familiar characters we introduced in Uh-Oh, Ogopogo! along with a new writer that I'll be co-scripting with. She's bringing a wonderful whimsical tone to the story we're telling, which I can't wait for everyone to see!

Our Kickstarter campaign has launched, which you can see by clicking the link here . True Patriot is a comic book anthology featuring Canadian superheroes written and drawn by some of your favourite Canadian creators! The first volume of True Patriot was released this past summer and our fans immediately demanded more! So we're back for a second volume scheduled for release summer 2014. This campaign is to raise funds to cover the cost of production, printing, shipping, and fulfillment of rewards for a  104-page, full colour, limited hardcover edition of True Patriot: Volume 2. Let’s Get ‘True Patriot’ Into Canadian Libraries

John M. Swinimer makes a great point in bringing more comics with Canadian content into libraries. Please click here to read his thoughts . "At the recent launch party for ‘True Patriot’, held at The Comic Book Lounge in Toronto, creator and contributor Howard Wong told me that he participated in this project for his children. He wanted to create something they would want to read and appreciate as Canadians. And that’s the reason for this blog."

Geek Hard at True Patriot Book Launch

The Geek Hard interviewed a few of the True Patriot book crew at the book launch. If that's not a reason to watch it, I do an Ogopogo impression. Yes, really. Click here for the interview . "This past Saturday (August 10th) at the Comic Book Lounge in Toronto, True Patriot, the Canadian Superhero Anthology, was released to the world! Sketchbook - Conquering Creative Challenges

Image
I was asked by  Sketchbook.com  to write a series of articles for them about writing and the creative process involved in story development Art from a Western comic I'm working on with Yan Square. My first was article was, A Writer's Perspective , where I share my thoughts about the creative process in developing and creating a story. The next article in my series for Sketchbook.com is up now, titled,  Conquering Creative Challenges . It's about how to use creativity in solving creative hurdles. Like how I was inspired to develop a format to allow me to collaborate with a concept artist not versed in the sequential storytelling format of comic books, as well as some problem solving experiences I have writing for videogames. There's also images from projects I'm actively working on that you can see there as well. Art from a fantasy comic I'm working on with Justice. Click here to read it now and feel free to share it.

Sketchbook - A Writer's Perspective

This is a digital comic I'm working on with  Justice Wong to be released in this year. It's a rare and wonderful opportunity for a writer to be able to share their thoughts on the creative process behind storytelling, and even more so about the collaborative aspect with artists. Sketchbook has asked me to do just that in what I hope will be three insightful articles. This first one I share some thoughts about the collaborative aspect in the creative process, what I do as a writer besides writing and tidbits in sequential storytelling. You'll also see sneak peeks at what I'm currently working on (like the image above). Click here to read it now, A Writer's Perspective .
