New Frontiers: The Many Worlds of George Takei, the Anthology

Image
Thanks to editors Jeff Yang and Keith Chow, I had the fortunate opportunity to be a part of this anthology that is filled with stories inspired by George Takei's life involving different landscapes of cultural diversity, as well as being introduced to artist Yehudi Mercado . The production time was very fast-paced, but fortunately Yehudi and I were on the same page for the story we wanted to tell. Yehudi and I were able to create wonderful paralleling stories that connect two generations through similar experiences titled, There's Always Tomorrow. Click  here  if you want to get your own copy. " This original graphic novel anthology is inspired by the life and legacy of George Takei and is the companion book to the JANM exhibition of the same name . NEW FRONTIERS  uses Takei's incredible journey as a launching pad for the imaginations of a breathtaking array of diverse creators — Asian, black, Hispanic and Native American; lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans — to

Harbour City's Superhero Summer

Image
When they told us that they would be making big posters of Iron Man Experience: Hong Kong Heroes for Harbour City's Marvel Superhero Summer exhitbit, we never imagined they would be doing this: That is a 4-meter high, 3D version of our cover! On the other side, this: A 1:1 ratio Iron Man doing his thing. Justice and I were floored. This was way, way beyond what we thought they were going to do.  Right before the opening of the exhibit, we took a quick shot. This is an exhibit at Harbour City promoting the Marvel Superhero Summer event at Hong Kong Disneyland using pages from the Iron Man Experience: Hong Kong Heroes comic Justice and I worked on for Marvel and HKDL. Besides the giant 3D cover, they supersized preview pages! It was great meeting more Hong Kong Marvel fans who didn't know we would be there. We happily signed more Iron Man Experience: Hong Kong Heroes and got to chat with them between the rain. Typical Hong Kong weather with the rain coming

Hong Kong Disneyland's Superhero Summer Grand Opening

So back in June Justice and I were invited to checkout Hong Kong Disneyland's Superhero Summer Grand Opening! We got to become S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents and enter the Dimensions of Danger, and other MARVELous things they had. They did a fabulous job making you feel like you were walking into the Marvel Universe where you get to see...I don't want to spoil it, but it if you're a fan of Marvel comics or films, you really need to check it out. Nothing to see here, just Stark's Research Lab. We also met members of the Hong Kong Marvel Fan Club. After taking photos, they asked us to deface their copies of Iron Man Experience: Hong Kong Heroes, which we were more than happy to oblige. Even in the crazy humid weather their spirits were high. There were many questions about our story and all things Marvel. It's always fun to geek out about the films, Netflix shows, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and of course comics.  If you ever wonder if there were comic book fa

Writing Iron Man Experience: Hong Kong Heroes

So where was I for the last little while? Working on my first Iron Man comic! What an incredible opportunity and experience it was to be a part of this first exclusive Marvel Comic at Hong Kong Disneyland. Working with both Marvel Comics and Hong Kong Disneyland was amazing. There was so much creative energy, passion and fearlessness from everyone involved! C.B. Cebulski, Mark Basso and Mark Paniccia, as well as everyone from the Hong Kong Disneyland teams, were all gracious, insightful and all around cool rocking people to me and Justice (the amazing artist). I can't thank them enough! But a special thanks you goes out to C.B. Cebulski for asking Justice and I to be a part of this wild and crazy MARVELous ride! The story is set in Hong Kong, a city of contrasts that has influenced the backdrop of many stories for good reason, with it's unique blending of the old and new, where progress is built with the foundation of the past. Besides having the story take place in Hong
